Mum's the Word I    2009 - 2010

Sometimes it is distasteful to see, discuss, or hear about some issues, due to the presence of unconscious inhibitions deep within. A closer   inspection, however, reveals that these inhibitions are imported into  one’s mind and  turned into an unconscious behavior through repetition. Depending on the type of society, culture, or group you belong to, these inhibitions tend to vary. These differences are sometimes so drastic that a   quite ordinary behavior  in one culture  becomes a "taboo" in  another. The notion of an issue being a “taboo”  and “veiled”  turns it into a tantalizing   subject to be experienced, discussed and heard about, while temptations outweigh external inhibitory factors. Indifferent to the discomfiture   imposed from without, I created this collection with some kind of inner joy; the joy to depict the “forbidden” and the “veiled”.
